The 8th Grade Leadership elective focuses on student basic skills to assist them in leadership situations both in and out of school. During this semester long class students will learn, practice, and utilize various leadership skills and techniques. The first few weeks center on communication skills, learning styles, and personality types. Once students become familiar and comfortable with these first weeks skills, they will move into the different leadership types and styles, followed by how to recognize and offer resolution to conflict. The class will then move onto exploring, contemplating, and / or completing community service and service learning projects and a broad study / overview of the function of the three branches of the United States Government. They will complete the semester with a study on Cultural differences in leadership.
